Comfort food for the soul: watching television with your adult child

Like the rest of us, millennials watch television to relax, to be distracted and also for reassurance and a sense of ourselves…

…from identifying with The Gilmore Girls, Friends and Broad City…

…to seeing vibrant role models in their 70’s.

Maybe like me you watched a lot of television with your children when they were small. Among our favorites were The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Dougie Howser, Seventh Heaven, Family Matters, The Wonder Years and, when my sons were a little older, ER and My So-Called Life.

Even now as adults my sons come by and we watch something together. Last week, for Mother’s Day, we watched Zach Braff’s film Wish I Was Here.

It’s still a special and intimate experience. Try it.
